Rolland Maybee (1901-1976) was born in Ypsilanti (Mich.) on Jan. 6, 1901. He attended Western Michigan University and Columbia University, where he earned his A.B., M.A., and Ph. D. degrees in history. In 1922 Maybee came to Central Michigan University. He was promoted to professor rank in 1942. Maybee served as chairman of the Dept. of Social Studies, 1946-1960. Maybee was a history professor at CMU. The Clarke Historical Library has several of his publications and his papers. The Advisory Committee developed plans for major events, publications, re-dedications of campus buildings, presentations, and a historical marker for CMU's 75th Anniversary. Rolland Harper Maybee was born on January 6, 1901 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Harper C. Maybee (1876-1954) and Blanche Maybee (1879-1970). Maybee had three brothers: Allen, Harper Jr., and Eugene Maybee. Rolland attended high school in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
